AUGUST 2001 The tragedy of accepting
nutritional advice from the mis-directed doctor is the fact that most
of this advice is contrary to scientific argument and, if followed, could
cause a great deal of harm to your health. For example,
"Don't eat butter." Then why do scientific
studies refute this position? For example, Margaret Flynn
at the University of Missouri found that it made no difference to the
cholesterol level whether you ate margarine or butter, and Bruce Holub,
of the University of Guelph, stated that the cholesterol-free claims should
not be allowed on margarine as the contained cis-trans fats
cause the body to dramatically increase the level of the harmful low density
cholesterol. Also, the cultures who live long and disease-free lives
consume large amounts of butter. Another example of mis-advice is
"Don't eat extra salt," as too much salt
causes high blood pressure. However, a recent four year study by the prestigious
Albert Einstein College of Medicine (done in association with the prestigious
Cornell University Medical College) on 1,900 men with high blood pressure,
concluded that high blood pressure patients who ate less than 5 grams
of salt a day had more than four times as many heart attacks as
those who consumed over 10 grams a day. Another 20-year study on 10,000
men with high blood pressure, who were almost totally taken off all salt,
was never concluded as all of the men died prematurely with absolutely
no change in blood pressure. A control study of another 10,00 men
with high blood pressure, who were given double the RDA of calcium,
also was cut short as their blood pressures returned to normal within
eight weeks. Besides these studies, whatever happened to logic
? We would not crave salt if our bodies didn't require it.
If you take the salt block away from the cows, they will become sick,
just like the doctor's patients. JULY 2001 In 1992, public concern was caused by legislation, The Nutrition Labeling and Education Act, that would put the regulation of all food, including vitamins and minerals, under the jurisdiction of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), an agency created to maintain the quality of the food and drugs consumed by the American public. Linus Pauling, winner of two Nobel Prizes, one of which was for his research on the role of vitamins in promoting and preserving health, complained that "Government regulators at the Food and Drug Administration remain locked in a Cold War and are against vitamins when they could be encouraging education about preventing maladies." He further goes on to say that, "It's time that the government finally caught up with a large and rapidly growing body of scientific research on nutrition." There is no doubt that the drug industry is eager to quash the rising popularity of the vitamin industry, which has also been accompanied by the decline in popularity of orthodox medicine. The legislation would require all claims to be substantiated with scientific proof that the unbiased FDA would judge. The FDA can impose personal fines of up to $250,000 and business fines of up to $1,000,000. A second bill, H.R. 1662, proposed to restrict advertising and marketing of dietary supplements and nutritional products that do not conform to the nutritional labeling legislation. Wow ! Talk about an incursion on your constitutional rights ! And all in the name of protecting the public. The drug companies are obviously ecstatic with the legislation that should force the public back to the orthodox doctors dispensing their drugs in the form of white pills. The net result will prove to be legislated disease. JUNE 2001
What makes seeking nutritional advice from your doctor ridiculous is that untrained doctors are directed to give foolish advice to their patients, causing a great deal of harm to their health. In the first place, the public should be made aware that doctors receive only hours of training in nutritional therapy. They are given advice by the medical authorities who are highly influenced by the drug industry, which, under no stretch of anyone's imagination, can be considered to be impartial. Can you just imagine the drug companies advising the doctors to prescribe a one dollar piece of garlic, as the Father of Medicine, Dr. Hypocrates practiced, rather than the thousand dollar chemo-drugs of today ? The other problem with their stance is that they assume that if the food is eaten the contained nutrients will be absorbed by the body. There are numerous reasons why this may not happen. Besides, well-trained and certified nutritionists take the position that, to obtain the nutrients required by the body, it takes several servings of fruits and vegetables each day. In one recent issue of Readers Digest, seven servings were suggested as necessary. When was the last time that the average person had seven servings of fruits and vegetables in just one day ? The only way that the average person is guaranteed the nutrients required for good health is to take them as food supplements. Of course, this is frowned upon by the governing establishment. The general public should not have a hard time deciding whether the scientists are correct or whether the FDA is correct.
MAY 2001
The problem with letting the medical authorities be the judges on the issue of food consumption is threefold: the first problem is that they are unqualified; a few hours' worth of training hardly puts them in the position to judge anything. True, they have some in-house experts, but these experts are under the tremendous influence of their medical masters who have to be very concerned with their second problem; that is, they are, in large part, economically dependent on the sale of drugs. Each year the drug companies make hundreds of billions of dollars selling doctor- prescribed drugs. The doctors charge for the prescriptions and their organizations receive other financial considerations for this service. If inexpensive food replaces most of these drugs, the financial gravy train will derail. The third problem is that both medicine and the drug companies are the biggest benefactors of the ill health in America, turning a health care system into an expensive disease care system. It is interesting to note that even though it is the publicly perceived position of the FDA that by simply eating the right foods the average person can obtain all of the vitamins and minerals required for good health, their chief, David Kessler, can be quoted as saying, "When my wife was pregnant, I made sure she was on prenatal vitamins." This means that morally, if the FDA meets its publicly perceived hidden goal of removing vitamin and mineral supplements from public access, their leader could be in for a stiff fine if he continues to practice what he does not preach. Thus, this is another case of forcing the public to do as I say rather than do as I do, which is a hypocritical position to take.
APRIL 2001 The FDA's mandate, as stated before, is to maintain the quality of the food and drugs consumed by the American public. Although the consumption of the artificially man-made drugs obviously requires the supervision of the medical authorities, as 100,000's are killed every year by drugs, it is difficult to understand how the consumption of natural foods, such as vitamins and minerals, which have never been proven to kill one person, would require the same supervision. However. it is not difficult to understand that the FDA's comrades in arms in the drug industry wish to quash the rising popularity of nutritional therapy. This can be done by demanding irrefutable scientific evidence for any claim, for which the FDA will be both judge and jury. For example, a claim such as heart disease can be reduced ten-fold through simple nutrition, would demand extensive scientific study by respected scientific organizations. So what does the FDA say about the ten year nutritional study by the British Medical Research Council on 5000 men between the ages of 45 to 59 which concluded that the daily consumption of milk reduced heart disease ten fold. The FDA also remains silent on the recent release of the massive study by the Finland National Institute of Public Health which concluded that the consumption of milk is the most predominant factor in preventing breast cancer compared to all other factors combined. And what does the FDA say about the twenty-four year nutritional study by the University of Southern California on 11,384 men and women which concluded that not only did the daily consumption of vitamins and minerals cut the death rate in half, but it also reduced the death rate for cancer and heart disease by ten fold. No FDA approved drug will ever come close to these nutritional successes. By ignoring this documented scientific evidence by world renowned organizations, the FDA, whose policies have historically ensured the protection of drug industry profits, is also ignoring its mandate to protect the American public from disease. Shame on the FDA.
MARCH 2001 Unfortunately, although
massive proof exists supporting preventive medicine,
the current medical system only allows men with a vested interest
in the preservation of disease, to be judge, jury and prosecutor. Men
who are allowed to systematically persecute, with cries of "quackery"
and "charlatan", those who seek to research
and promote preventive medicine. In the past, these men have failed
to endorse claims that could have saved millions of lives. Because of
this lack of medical freedom in America, knowledgeable doctors are
fearful of losing their licences if they break from the system and practice
preventive medicine. Also tragic is the fact that the economically prohibitive
burden of proof is left totally to those making the claims, while those
endowed with funds to protect the health of the public watch from their
castles. An examination of both medical and scientific history will
show that it was the system in which they governed that allowed
the establishment to resist most of the advances of science that all human
societies now believe to be basic truths of life. This resistance
to change was done while vilifying and demeaning some of the many famous
men in history, most of whom are now referred to as the fathers
of science. These world renowned men made major scientific
contributions that can lead to the understanding and prevention of disease.
Thus, the system must be changed so that the course of history can be
changed, and the death by diet cycle can be broken.
Both doctors and the public must understand disease better so that society
can change the present disease care system into a real health
care system by practicing preventive medicine. This can only be
accomplished quickly by a change in the American Constitution enshrining
medical freedom FEBRUARY 2001
The other tragedy, caused
by the medical stance that "too much vitamin-A is toxic",
is that without definition of just what "too much" is, the inference
is that the vitamin itself is toxic and should therefore be avoided.
This is tragic because it is contrary to historical scientific study.
The ancient Egyptians squeezed the juice from livers to treat night blindness
and other eye disorders. This strong medicine is known today
as vitamin-A or retinol. Now, in the twentieth century, in
poor countries, it is estimated that 500,000 children go blind each
year for lack of vitamin-A. Scientists in India recently
found that weekly vitamin-A supplements for school children cut deaths
from disease by more than half. Recently, it has been found, by several
scientific studies, that eating 20 times the RDA of vitamin-A really
does inhibit cancer. In 1993 in a medical trial in Linxian,
China, Chinese scientists, along with scientists from the American National
Cancer Institute, established that beta-carotene, a chemical cousin of
vitamin-A, in combination with vitamin-E and selenium, reduces deaths
from cancer. This supports the work done by medical researchers at the
beginning of the century who found that a severe lack of vitamin-A caused
stomach cancer in rats. The Chinese took the vitamins and mineral as a
food supplement, but because of the American medical system, the National
Cancer Institute scientists have rushed home to study
drugs that might achieve the same effect. In other words, American
scientists have found a nutritional and inexpensive way to treat
cancer, but prefer instead to try to develop an expensive
chemical for the drug companies. Once again I am sure that Hippocrates,
the Father of Medicine who was the champion of using food as medicine,
can be heard screaming from his grave, "Why don't
you just let them eat the damned food ?" JANUARY 2001
Another vitamin that Americans have been caused to become concerned about is vitamin-A. Its ridiculously low RDA is 5000 I.U.. A person eating a modest meal of carrots and liver consumes at least 100,000 I.U. of vitamin-A, and he does it without a doctor's prescription, and each spoonful is in violation of the RDA's. Spinach, sweet peas, potatoes, red peppers and dried apricots would also be disallowed from the doctor's prescription if the FDA ever is allowed to enforce the RDAs. In February 2001, UNICEF reported that a program that began in 1988 giving high-dose capsules of vitamin-A to strengthen the body's immune system has averted one million child deaths. If vitamin-A is so abundant in common food then how could the medical authorities convince the doctors to warn the public about the dangers of taking too much and that it could be poisonous? The answer most frequently cited is that eating polar bear livers, which contain as much as 8,000,000 I.U. of vitamin-A, was fatal for the early arctic explorers. My God! When was the last time that you ate polar bear liver ? The tragedy behind this ridiculous stance is that it is based on misinformation. To begin with, the early explorers did not die from eating the polar bear liver which was so delicious that they devoured large amounts at each meal, but rather became sick, suffering from dermatitis and defoliation. Then, ironically, in the late 1980's, a team of Swedish scientists discovered that polar bear liver adsorbs large amounts of cadmium metal found in the arctic water. The symptoms of cadmium metal poisoning are dermatitis and defoliation. Thus, the ailments of the early explorers were caused by the cadmium in the polar bear liver, and not the large amount of vitaminn-A. The tragedy is that despite the scientific evidence, "too much" vitamin-A still remains "toxic" in the doctors minds.
DECEMBER 2000
While mineral deficiency
diseases abound in America today, the recommended daily allowance, known
as RDA's, of vitamins and minerals adds fuel to the fire. A good
example is the RDA of 400 NOVEMBER 2000 The most distressing aspect
of medicine in North America today is that the Recommended Daily Allowances
(RDA's) for minerals and vitamins are rigidly adhered to even though our
society is heading towards several medical disasters, as is witnessed
by the staggering increase in AIDS and cancer. Although medicine
is winning a few battles, it is definitely losing the OCTOBER 2000 Another Hippocratic argument that must be addressed is the statement that "sunshine must be considered as good food" and therefore is "good medicine". The medical authorities of today have everyone convinced that sunshine causes skin cancer, and is therefore bad for you. Nothing could be further from the truth. Sunshine not only does not cause cancer, sunshine actually prevents cancer by causing vitamin-D to be produced in the skin. The vitamin-D causes nutrients in the stomach to be absorbed in the small intestine. These nutrients cause the body fluids to become alkaline and oxygen rich thereby destroying any cancers. Dr. Otto Warburg won the Nobel prize for proving that cancer was anaerobic; this means that cancer thrives when the body fluids are depleted of oxygen, and cancer dies when the body fluids are rich in oxygen. Mineral deficient people whose body fluids are acidic and oxygen deprived are prone to hundreds of diseases. One of the many diseases that they can get is skin cancer. Exposure to too much sun at one time to these sun starve people can indeed trigger skin cancer. The skin cancer was triggered by the sun, but was caused by the acidosis created by mineral deficiency, which also caused these people to have numerous other diseases. The oversimplification in current medical thinking has done a disservice to the teachings of Hipprocrates, which science has proven correct. Besides, the implication that the sun causes cancer implies that God did not know what he was doing to the health of humans when he created the sun. Thus, we are left to choose, should we believe the doctors, or should we believe God. SEPTEMBER 2000 Hypocrites, the Father
of medicine, claimed to have treated his cancer patients with some success
by having them eat large amounts of garlic and onions. There is also an
abundant and readily available history of scientific evidence demonstrating
that garlic and onions have proven properties beneficial to health.
In a recent Scientific American publication, The Chemistry of Garlic
and Onions, Eric Block, University of Saint Louis, describes
how certain extracts of both garlic and onions have proven AUGUST 2000
Which famous doctor once
said, "All food is medicine, and the best food
is the best medicine. JULY 2000 DID YOU KNOW? "If the doctors of today do
not become the nutritionists of tomorrow, This
statement
hangs in big letters over the entrance to the Rockefeller Institute
of Medical Research. It is believed to be especially true as mineral
and vitamin deficiency are being found to be the main cause of degenerative
disease. Deficiencies of critical minerals, such as calcium and
magnesium, that are combined with a deficiency of vitamin-D, JUNE 2000 DID YOU KNOW? Did you know that with a moderate change in lifestyle accompanied by pennies' worth of food supplements daily, the pH of your body fluids can be quickly raised to the healthy alkaline blue level, regardless of your age, where most diseases cannot survive?
Did you know that butter, salt and eggs are very healthy foods and it is margarine that may be harmful to your health.?
Did you know that there is scientific merit to the claims made that magnetism is an integral part of good health, that most major hospitals employ magnetic therapy, that one out of every ten Japanese, including thousands of doctors, are currently sleeping on magnetic beds?
Did you know that scientific advances in the field of preventive medicine, including those of Nobel Prize winners Otto Warburg and Linus Pauling, are ignored by the governing medical establishment which regulates all doctors, thereby inhibiting doctors from the practice of preventive medicine which could save the government enough money to both balance the budget and resolve America's national debt?
Did you know that America's first Surgeon General, Benjamin Rush, the only doctor to sign the American Constitution, fearing that medicine would in time organize into an undercover dictatorship that would suppress both medical competition and "new medical advances," tried in vain to have medical freedom enshrined in the American Constitution? MAY 2000 DID YOU KNOW? Did you know that, except for the stomach and urine fluids, all of the body fluids of those who are healthy are alkaline (high pH), whereas the body fluids of the sick are acidic (low pH)? Did you know that most degenerative diseases attributed to aging, such as cancer, osteoporosis and heart disease, as well as other diseases, such as allergy, kidney stones and gallstones, have all been scientifically linked to mineral deficiencies that result in your body fluids becoming more acidic? Did you know that scientists have found that cancer thrives in an acidic environment but cannot survive in an alkaline medium? Did you know that cholesterol is not the cause of disease ? It provides structural integrity to human cells and is the main component for most of our hormones. But, as it is also found as one of ten components that make up arterial plaque, it is assumed guilty by the medical establishment. If society were to use this same type of simplistic logic, all policemen found at the scene of the crime would be incarcerated. APRIL 2000 Modern orthodox science always tries to find and extract the active disease-preventing ingredients in its attempt to produce a patented and expensive miracle drug. Hippocrates, the father of medicine believed that "all food is medicine, and the best food is the best medicine". Unfortunately, the soils of America have become depleted in most of the critical minerals necessary for disease-free health and long life. But even more unfortunate is the fact that the massive studies done by world renowned scientific researchers, which demonstrate that this problem could be rectified by inexpensive mineral and vitamin supplements as is practiced in agriculture, continue to go unheeded by the drug-pursuing FDA and the AMA, who prevent the doctors, with the threat of removal of their license to practice medicine, from implementing nutrient therapy until it has been proven to their satisfaction, regardless of scientific evidence. Also, the RDA's for vitamins and minerals are ridiculously low. Meanwhile, Americans are dying prematurely and painfully, while the drug industry reaps the rewards. In 1776, Doctor Benjamin Rush, America's first Surgeon General, and the only medical doctor to assist in the drafting of the American Constitution, tried and failed to have medical freedom included in the Constitution. Dr. Rush wanted every American citizen to have the right to choose and the right to practice the form of medicine that the citizen deems most beneficial to personal health. This would allow every American the right to choose, and the physician the right to practice all forms of medicine. Dr. Rush feared that medicine would in time, he predicted 60 years, organize into an "undercover dictatorship" that would suppress medical competition. 63 years later, in 1839, the American Medical Association was formed. MARCH 2000
Modern medicine would have you believe that you should not eat much fat, salt or cholesterol. Doctors believe this advice so much that they actually take their own advice, while the majority of their patients find their advice too hard to follow. The average life span for a doctor in America is 58 years. The life span of the average person in America is 75 years. The average life span of the six oldest living cultures who consume large amounts of fats, salt and cholesterol is 125 years. So, while the doctor's "don't eat" advice rings in the ears of those gathered around his graveside, the 120 year old Hunza in Pakistan, who just consumed a breakfast of eggs and milk, continues to drink his 30 cups of tea daily, each with a large chunk of rock salt and 2 paddies of butter. And, to add insult to injury, the 120 year old Hunza, just like the 120 year old Tibetan and the 120 year old Russian, looks like a 60 year old American. Also, diseases such as Cancer, heart disease, diabetes, etc. are virtually non existent in these cultures. Why ? Because of what they do eat, and what they do not eat. They don't eat artificial foods such as margarine, olestra and soda pop, but they do eat butter, eggs, and milk. What's even more important is that because the water that they drink is very rich in almost every mineral, so too is the food that they eat. Unfortunately, because of mineral depleted soils in America and because the medical establishment does not support the use of vitamin and mineral supplements, both the quality and quantity of these nutrients are rarely found in the American Diet. FEBRUARY 2000 It was 220 years ago that Americans
lost their rights to one of life's basic freedoms.......the freedom of
medicine. The freedom for each American citizen to choose and to
practice the form of medicine that the citizen deems most beneficial
to personal health. Freedom of medicine was tragically left out
of the American Constitution. In 1776, Dr. Benjamin Rush,
Surgeon General and the only American doctor to sign the Declaration of
Independence, tried strenuously, but failed, to have "medical
freedom" enshrined in the Constitution. He
feared that, "the time will come when medicine will organize into
an undercover dictatorship." He estimated it would happen
within 60 years, and his fears were well founded, as in 1839 the AMA was
founded and immediately began to ostracize the then popular, and
what was referred to as the enemy, homeopathic doctors from its
medical ranks. Doctors were even disbarred from hospitals where
homeopaths practiced. Even before the formation of the AMA, orthodox
doctors had seized powerful positions of prestige. Unfortunately, George
Washington was one of their early victims. Washington was bled to
death by the then orthodox medical practice of blood letting. This
early AMA medical practice of shunning the competition
would be strictly illegal today, that is, in every
field except medicine. Any doctor today getting caught following
the Father of Medicine, Hippocrates' examples of preventive medicine and
of letting the patients decide, is currently in danger of having his license
revoked. This is done in the name of public protection. Tragically, the
real protection is for the staggeringly high profits of the drug companies.
It is therefore obvious that the only corrective prescription to cure
the ills of modern medicine would be an amendment to the American Constitution
enshrining medical freedom; thereby, allowing both doctors and patients
the right to practice and to preach preventive medicine: JANUARY 2000 One of the sad realities of ignoring history is that almost every American is ignorant of the fact that medical freedom was tragically left out of the American Constitution. In 1776, Dr. Benjamin Rush, Surgeon General and the only American doctor to sign the Declaration of Independence, tried strenuously, but failed, to have "medical freedom" enshrined in the Constitution. He stated "The constitution of this Republic should make special provisions for Medical Freedom. To restrict the art of healing to one class of men and deny equal privileges to others will constitute the Bastille of medical science. All such laws are un-American and despotic" Dr. Rush's Medical Freedom would have been written like the following:
Such a freedom would result in a Medical Bastille Day. The innocent political prisoners of medicine would be turned free by the masses. The AMA practice of shunning the competition would be illegal, and doctors would be free to explore and practice the medicines of other cultures, especially nutritional science. The FDA, which promotes expensive and unnatural man-made chemicals to the glee of the drug industry, would not be allowed to interfere with the citizen's decision to pursue preventive medicine through inexpensive and natural nutritional supplements. In summary, our current disease care society would quickly become a real health care society. |
